Joan Pau Pujol (1573-1626) is the one of the most important composers of the new style that was cononfigured in Catalonia near of the beginin of the Century XVIIth.
The Catalan Baroque was characterized by the balance between homophony and polyorhality, the incorporation of rhetorical resources and the presence of basso continuo. The Joan Pau Pujol's style evidences his musical training at the Renaissance polyphony.
This Easter responsorio was collected in the manuscript 10 preserved at the Archive of the Orfeó Català, in Barcelona.
